President's Address
Jimin OH
Delegates, Student Officers and Guests:
Hello, welcome to the Environmental Commission!
I am Jimin Oh, year 11 in the British International School, and it is my utmost pleasure to be serving as your president in SAIMUN 2017. I have been actively participating in MUN for almost 3 years now, and this conference will mark my second chairing experience. With constant support and advice from teachers, chairs, and insightful delegates I have encountered in my MUN career has shaped and developed me, and I too, hope to be the helping hand for delegates who are less experienced this year.
In the Environmental commission, delegates will be debating on topics related to sustainable energy, water resources, waste disposal and nuclear energy. Environmental commission is unique in the sense that it strives to work as a single human species sharing the Earth, not as a group of self-interested countries.
The purpose of MUN is not only to foster better debaters but also to allow you to become more engaged in such issues with gravity and accept others without prejudice. Thus, in this SAIMUN, I am looking forward to applicable resolutions being produced, meeting open-minded debaters, and spending a memorable 2 days of the conference with fellow delegates.
My co-chairs and I, all hope that you have a great time at SAIMUN 2017. Be prepared to debate with enthusiasm, make life long friendships, and good luck with your preparation. I hope to see you all very soon.
